Garnacha Tinta
Phenology: Bud break: mid-season.
Ripening time: mid-season.
Agronomic characteristics: Highly vigorous plant, upright growth.
High fertility. Medium to high production, medium to large sized clusters.
Offers considerable resistance to drought, highly versatile, it adapts to all types of soils. It can be spur pruned, although cane pruning also works well.
Susceptible to mildew and to botrytis, it is susceptible to an irregular fruit set.
Oenological potential: Wines with a high alcohol content, a deep red colour, light aromas with tones of mature red fruit, medium to high acidity, not a well-structured wine.
It is used for Crianza wine, by blending it with Tempranillo, Cabernet, Macabeo, Syrah, Graciano. As a young wine, it is not interesting due to its rapid oxidation. It is best used for preparing rosé wines based on Garnacha varietal wine.
